Company history Learn more about how it all started
Owing to a rapidly growing customer base, the production facility in Steinheim/Murr no longer offered adequate space. In response to this, the company headquarters were moved to Rielingshausen, and new buildings were added to the facility over the years.
In order to cover a broader range of customer requirements, the management decided to add rodents and other accessories to the product portfolio, which had previously consisted exclusively of breeding and selling living food insects.
Requests from European countries outside of Germany led to Fauna Topics delivering food insects and rodents throughout Europe.
Live food for ornamental fish was added to the product portfolio.
The company decided to restructure its processes in an effort to minimise the consumption of key resources. This led to the installation of photovoltaic panels to generate renewable energy. In addition, a wood chip heating system was installed for heating and process heat.
The portfolio was expanded again after the company became exclusive importer of Reptiles Planet products for the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
A new breeding facility was opened to keep up with rising demand.
Fresh food plants for pets/domestic animals were added to the product range. As part of this expansion, we forged a close cooperation with Fleischle based in Vaihingen and took charge of the distribution of PetSnack food plants.
Fauna Topics changed its corporate management structure. Mr Marc Rudolf joined the executive team as a managing partner. The same year also marked our certification as an organic company (DE-ÖKO-006).
Acquisition of Kleintierzuchten Skiba.
Another acquisition: live food producer Claus.
25th anniversary Fauna Topics 21/04/2018
Fauna Topics Zoobedarf, Zucht- und Handels-GmbH continues to grow. As of 01.09.2019, the traditional company GZH Hildner was taken over.
Another mainstay and a great contribution to sustainability. Fauna Topics Zoobedarf, Zucht- und Handels-GmbH takes over the first food company for insects approved in Germany, the company Six Feet To Eat GmbH, as of August 24, 2020. The portfolio includes crickets, grasshoppers, mealworms and other selected insect species. These are available for sale frozen, dried or also as flour.
